Last year I made one of these blankets. When I made it I had just cut and tied. I heard of another way about sewing around the blanket then tying it. Have any of you sewn it first then tied? What did you do? I don't have a big cutting table or big enough floor so I folded them and cut it. Has anyone had to do this?

I've made a couple that I sewed around the outer edge. I made two trips around, one about 8" in and the other about 9" in from the outer edge. I trimmed the short edge on one end almost to the stitching, so there wouldn't "tickly" fringe up by my grandson's face, then clipped and tied the other 3 sides. I didn't try to do any other stitching on the blanket other than that, though.

I just put a pink one together for a baby girl I just heard about and didn't have enough time to do a pieced quilt for her. I forgot how soft they were and they go together so fast. I just do mine on the living room floor. Got a pink floral with a plain pink backing with my 40% off Joanne's coupon. I don't sew, just cut and tie.

Having very little space also I have cut them while holding it on my lap. iI just fold it up and cut one side then tie it, move on to the mext side and continue til its all done. I just cut in the length of my scissors.

HI,
I have made probably 30 + of the fleece. I do not sew either, just cut and tie. When you use the discount from Jo-Ann's the pricing is not bad for the fleece. The grandkids love the baseball theme and girly themes. They work up so fast. Also wash beautifully!!

I sew mine in 6 inches all the way around then cut almost to the stitching using the June Taylor Shape Cut ruler (has slots every 1/2 inch to cut into so very evenly spaced) with a rotary cutter. I do 1/2 inch wide fringe - more tying but I like the look better. Also I tie every other one from one side them flip it over & tie the other every other one. :)

someoneelse asked this about a month ago, and I posted pics of how I do them. I turn them under and use yarn and metal yarn needle and do blanket stitch around them. Maybe someone has link to pics.

http://www.quiltingboard.com/posts/l...10.page#205421 There it is, Margie - reminds me of the old trapper blankets with the black stripes along the top.

I did a bunch of these a couple of years back. I used my mom's serger and serged the long sides. Then I cut and tied the short sides. I wanted to give them as much blanket width as I could. They still love them.
