Default Flying Geese fabric sizes

I have to make 22 identical flying geese. Finished size is 3 ½ x 7. I want to use my creative grids flying geese ruler but use the Eleanor Burns method with just 2 squares. I like to have excess to trim off so that they all are the correct size. QID doesn’t have a ruler that size so they don’t have a chart with the sizes of fabric needed. There is no formula that I can find. QID chart shows for a 2 x 4 to use a 7” and 5 ½” sq. and for a 2 ½ x 5 to use an 8” and 6 ½” square. Can someone please tell me what size to cut my squares? And is there an actual formula that will help me in the future? Thanks.

I haven’t checked it, but the text with this video gives the formula.

Looks like add 3 inches to the larger measurement. Multiply the smaller measurement by 2.5. Try this with a scrap and see if it works. Cut your squares 10 and 8 3/4. Not sure if it will work but that is the ratio I see on the 2
you listed

Agree with cjsews. I tried with 10 1/2 and 8 1/2" squares, and the smaller square could have been a tad larger.

The formula is: start with the Unfinished measurement of the longest side. For a 3.5 x7 finished FG, that is 7.5”.

Add 1” to find the size of the smaller square. Should be 8.5. This will be the goose body.
Add an additional 1.5” for the larger square. 10”. This will be the sky.
