How do you start off? I get 'nests' at the start or have to leave 6 inch ends to bury later by hand. Any hints?

Whenever I machine quilt, I bring up the bobbin thread to the top and then knot after I'm done. Can't see it - works out awesome. I end my quilting this way also.

I do the same. I need to bury the thread but it looks great.

Bring up the bobbin thread and hold it and top thread snug while taking a few tiny stitches. This way you will have no "birdnests". After stitching a couple inches, use a "easy thread" needle to bury the thread ends.

I do the same - bring the bobbin thread up and knot and bury.
