I'm positive I've seen the method explained here recently, with photos, math and all! But can't seem to find it again.

I believe basically what you do is, you place two squares on top of each other, sew around the four edges, and cut diagonally into four... or something. Anyone remember what I mean and where to find it?

You take the 2 blocks that you are wanting to use. You will make them a bit larger you'll want to do like 4 7/8 instead of 4 1/2. Draw a line down the very middle then sew a scant 1/4 of the line....then you will get your 4 1/2 " blocks. Hope this helps and is understandable. :)

I've seen the method you mentioned but I don't like the bias edges it makes. The method I use makes 8 hst at once.
Cut two squares, Mark on the back of he light one diagonaly both directions, stack them together with the dark square and sew along both sides of each line. Cut this square in half both directions, then cut the new smaller square on the marked lines. To determine size to cut take the desired size of finished hst times two plus one and three forths. I would send pictures, but don't know how.

I think this is the way Rhonda does it, search her name and click on her posts or check her blog.

Starch your fabrics first, makes handling those bias edges easier :D:D:D
