As I said, by the time I'm done, it's pretty good! But I do a lot of "pickin' out! Don't enjoy that!

here's a baby quilt I just finished for my 1 yr old G'son. Applique's alternated with free motion ducks! Yikes!

Yes I am QuiltsRfun. And it's not too bad getting the pieces of paper off once it's quilted.

I do some free motion - meander, and around images on a panel, I also took lessons on a long arm and a quilt shop in my area rents time on their long arm (had to have taken lessons first). I did that an quilted a queeen size quilt for my sister, I was thrilled with it. Because I'm new to whole technique when I used long arm I then quilted border on my home machine. I'm getting ready to free motion designs on blank block of a queen size Irish Chain. Because I'm a little concerned about the size and getting it through the 7 1/2 throat of my Viking I'm quilting in sections (a Marti Michell technique) will quilt entire center and then add borders and quilt them. I was really interested that for your first free motion experience you used pattern that you applied to the quilt and then quilted it. That's what I'm going to do. Not sure how I'll get pattern onto quilt yet, but I'm working on it.
thanks for listening, and if you have any suggestions i'm all ears.

thanks peel
Hi Peel!!

I am using the tracing paper I got from the Connecting Threads website. It is yellow in colour but the paper is fantastic! I recently found the same paper at a local quilt shop. Since my quilt was already basted, I couldn't add the designs on by marking pencil, so i traced the design on one piece of the tracing paper, layered the tracing paper about 10 papers thick then needle punched the design (sewed the design with my feed dogs down and no thread in the needle). I then took each individual design one paper at a time and pinned it to my quilt where I wanted the design to go. Then I carefully free motion quilted the design. Once it was done, I took off the tracing paper and had my design! So soo easy!~

I will be making a Double Irish Chain quilt for Trevor's parents for their wedding anniversary for March. I picked out my fabrics last night to make the quilt and I found a really nice Celtic Knot design to free motion quilt in the big areas! I can't WAIT to play again!

I too have a Viking.. I have the Husqvarna Platnium 750 and I have to say it quilts like a breeze! I haven't used the long arms before, but one of these days will try my hand at it :)

I finally started to quilt Heartsong this afternoon. She sure is a BIG girl and kind of hard to handle in the very middle sections...but I'll be through with that part pretty soon. Gotta finish up here and go back to my room..I've had my Margarita and dinner, so now just to quilt some more!!

great job Aggi, I have done a little bit and I am still scared. They say drink a glass of wine and that will help you relax and feel it. But unfortunetly I like wine.
