Sorry, I missed the last few questions on this thread.
This pattern was from a quilt shop hop and not available for purchase.
It is based on 2-1/2 " strips and the dark center squares going from end to end are 2-1/2"
The first strip along the star block is 2-1/2" x 8-1/2 (the unfinished size of this star square is 8-1/2"). In this pattern the dark print fabric for the first strip and the dark print fabric at the outer edges of the star are the same. This does give the illusion of a larger square and gives the snowflake a little more room to 'float'

you can get the french braid on line free and really all you need is the star. go to quilt blocks galore and get a pattern make your center pc then do the rest. I love to make my own stuff I don't usually buy patterns I like to figure out how to make them. Save the cash you would of spent on a pattern and buy material. lol good luck
