I bought lots of the FQ's at Quilter's Day Out. Some definitely would not be canned; however, I found an applique basket pattern on line and purchased some basket weave fabric to make baskets to include on the shelves to hold onions, bananas, and apples, etc. I wanted more of a pantry quilt rather than just canning jars.

UFO veg & fruits is in my to do pile. Like the "canning jars" idea (thanks so much) & could make the jars in pints, if i have any scraps.
my layout = attic windows, 2 different fabrics to depict baskets of fruits & veggies. right now, can not remember fabric mfg. but it is from a number of years ago.

I did veggies on my daughter-in-law's canning jar quilt. I gave it to her for Mother's Day last year. I added sashing between and jars that looked like wood and lids on the jars that looked like grey metal, with the background black. When I gave it to her I hadn't added the label and told her she couldn't take it home until she gave it a name, it became; "Pantry Raid" , cute huh? I have done another quilt for her out of just fruits and the Attic Window as the pattern. The jars are so much FUN to do and they are so CUTE! ! !

I just started collecting fabrics for a jar quilt. At a fabric store, they had a quilt that had munchy fabric and it looked like a bag of chips on the shelf. Was too cute. So I've been collecting food tabs and bug fabrics because I want to make a bug jar quilt too. I don't think I'll be too picky- if it's a food it'll go in a jar or basket( great idea BTW) .
