Generic feet
Hello! I have a babylock unity and I am needing additional presser feet. I was wondering what any of you thought about the 32 and 42 piece generic sets for sale on amazon. Thanks for all comments and insights.

I have a Viking and only tried a generic foot once- with a bad outcome. Since then I only purchase feet made for my machine. I figure the extra cost is still less than the repair bill was.
That was 14 years ago- there ( hopefully) has been improvements since then. I would see if they list the machines the feet are good for.

Agree with ckcowl about the Viking, that is *still* a valid issue 14 years later. Trying out each foot in a generic set from Amazon was a scary clunking needle breaking experience... So I now only use Viking feet on the Ruby. I found I did have another non-Viking machine which was able to use about half of the set. Go slow and try out each one.

I have only purchased from my local dealer. She has sales often and I bought them one-by-one as needed for projects. They are all stored in a small plastic case with dividers I labeled.
Love the new machine that came with a case and many feet included. Lucky they all mix with each other.
I have placed orders for other supplies from here with good customer service and shipping.

I just recently purchased a generic quarter inch foot w/seam guide for my Janome 6600 and it works fine. I visited a guild where several of the members had one on the same machine and were very happy with it so I ordered one for myself.

I have a Viking Husqvarna Opal and bought a generic spring action quilting foot from Amazon and it worked fine. On the other hand, I had tried a generic walking foot and that didn't work, but was able to give it to a friend that could use it. My other presser feet are all OEM feet.
