Maybe you bought the wrong scissors. Gingher makes a 5 inch craft scissors and a 5 inch sewing scissors. Joann's has them both. Buy them with a coupon or when 50% off special. They both look the same so you have to read the package. I bought the sewing pair and they are excellent for quilting. I love mine!

Thank you everyone! I think I am taking them back....I reviewed some of the recommended websites, think I will order one of the recommended brands that "grip" the fabric.

I have a larger pair of Gingher scissors which I love. My smaller 5" scissors are made by Kai and I love them as well. I use them for cutting out fusible applique and was concerned that they would dull by cutting through the fusible paper, but they stayed sharp. I'm not sure this is any help at all but it is my experience. Good luck.

I really like my Olfa little scissors with serrated blades. Especially for cutting small pieces. They grab the fabric and dont slip around.
