Here is what I call my girlie girl quilt that I made years ago. Drunkards path in the bunting lay out. It is fast, you can make it as big or small as you want and the lace is so soft.

EDIT: The fabrics are polka-dots! and it is quilted with a rose motif.

peace

I saw one the other day called Sunflower Baby from Ashton Publications. ( http://www.ashtonpub.com/patterns.htm It's the second pattern down) and thought how sweet it would be done in delicate pinks. You could even add a row of gathered lace or eyelet around the face. My sweet DGD's are past the baby stage but nowhere near presenting me with another generation (thank goodness!!) but I still like looking at baby quilt patterns.

I think pink rosebuds on white shout out girly-girl to me. Add some other rose-print fabrics, some greens, some white-on-whites, and, if you want, toss in some small polka dots or delicate plaid. Keep it all in the pink-white-and a bit of green palette. You can then use any pattern that appeals to you. Add some eyelet or ric rac if you want to doll it up more. Maybe select a super-soft plushy fabric for the backing, if you are up for the challenge of dealing with it.

I love the grandmothers fan idea. Or I was looking a a day and night quilt made in either pink or purple and a pale gray. She is painting the babies room gray with either pink or purple.

Search the web for crib quilts, there are a lot of free patterns available. Any pattern can be made in pinks.
Be sure to use bright colorful children's prints, they have lots of cute fabrics available.
