I would like to know how many flowers to make for a twin size quilt. I have tried searching it out myself, but I have only found full, queen and king size. If anyone could help me out here, I would most appreciate it. I would like to do the double ringed around the flowers. Thanks in advance for any replies. :)

It depends on the size of hexagons that you are using :D they can have sides measuring 1/4" up to several inches :D:D:D

I'm working on one and I laid a white sheet on my bed, laid out the rosettes I had done and estimated how many. Not scientific but worked for me.:)

it would depend on what size flowers you are making- figure out the measurements for the twin quilt size you want to make- measure a flower- divide the the measurement of the twin size by the size of the flowers- to see how many
as in if your twin size is 63"x80" and you are making 5" flowers- you would need (12 flowers across= 60"x 16 flowers down) which makes 192 flowers)
of course if your flowers are lots bigger than that you will not need that many- it all depends on what you are doing

I am doing triple row flowers (1, 6, 13 as the flower) and then a row of white between each flower.

I am using 1 inch hexies (measured on one side) and so far I have the first row at 6 flowers wide then the second row is 5 wide with two 1/2 flowers -- one on either end to make a total of 6. Other than the one white row, I am not adding anythign else in between,

Now that I have some rows done, I would say 8 rows would be 54 wide by about 64 tall...I think I am going to add a row or two.

Mine is scrappy so I didn't care too much when I started about fabric, except for the white on white which is the same throughout. I just made sure I had plenty ...plus I knew I could always use it for something else later! I use a lot of white!

I totally understand how hard it is to figure! Especially since the flowers fit together unevenly.

It will also depend on whether you want to do a straight border with it or just finish it off with the flowers....

Thanks everyone for your input! I am just catching up on posts here. I am making the triple as well... 1, 6, 12 and then the 18 that will work into connecting. I am happy that it was mentioned of the two half flowers for every other row across as I have been making flowers with the 1,6 and 12 up and now I must remember that I will need two half flowers for every other row! I will try and figure out the amounts needed. The white material needed for connecting, I have not figured out how much to buy. I will need some for the backing as well, unless I use something other than white. lol I am having fun thus far, but I decided to print out 1" hex's on card stock paper and cut them out! Cheaper but a lot of cutting!

    Thanks again,

    Sharon
