I received an old kenmore model 1581351 and need some help with how to figure out the stitches, found a manual for sale on a site but dont have the money right now to buy it and was hoping someone out there would have one and could help me figure it out. I can sew on it just need to figure out how to make the different stitches as I have some applique work to do, thanks

I have machine similar to this one. The stitches are formed by changing the dial on the top of the machine and the uppermost dial on the face of the machine.

I can give you specifics later when I get home for work. I haven't used this machine in a while so I don't have the stitches memorized.

By the way, these machines sew well. I got mine in 1981 or 1982 and it is still going strong.

Thank you i await your reply, I love this machine and it se4ws like a dream, a 86 years young lady gave it to me here in the park, she was going to throw it in the dumpster and i stopped her. I have a ten year old singer and hate it this sews so much better, just trying to find the blanket stitch on her.

Let me look at my mom's and see what hers is like...i know it's a kenmore but can't remember the style. If it's like it, i will be glad to copy the manual for you.

I have an old Kenmore which is a 158 model, but not the same.

A gentlemen sent me a link to the manual. The manual is for the following models, but I was told all the 158 models were very similar:
    MODEL 1340 / 1345 / 1350 / 1355 / 1358
    1561/1595

If you pm me your e-mail address I can try and send the link. If that doesn't work, I can just forward the e-mail I originally received.

There is no blanket stitch on this machine. For applique, you can use satin stitch or zigzag.

I have this very same machine :D:D:D

Set the top dial to the one with the sideaways W and the 3 slanted lines with the bar on the left side (hard to describe LOL)

    Stitch width control to 4
    Stitch length control to 6
Special Stitch Modifier to the white dot

Zig zag foot and presser plate.
