Single thread cut 18 to 20 inches long Get Thread Heaven it comes in a little blue box you can find it at JoAnns with the quilting notions. I helps to keep the tread from tangeling.

I have been a hand quilter for about 4 years. I use handquilting thread from Joann's. Also the bees wax......I am very pleased

    Happy Quilting to everyone.

Single, hand quilting thread, and I usually use Thread Heaven or beeswax to keep the tangling problem at a minimum and I think it makes the thread easier to pull through.

I used double on my first and only quilt (to date) but only because I was going for a specific look - large, childish, cartoony. Everything everywhere I've ever found indicates single thread is appropriate and preferred.
