Opinions please, would it be harder to hand quilt if I would use spray adhesive instead of pinning?

Sometimes, not always, the spray adhesive makes the needle sticky. try on a scrap sandwich, wait 24-48 hrs before testing the needle for stickiness, which gives the adhesive time to fully dry. A 2 day loss for a test is nothing in the time to hand quilt. (Its a myth that a sewing machine needle gets sticky because the power of the machine overtakes any stickiness that may exist.)

Depends on the brand as well. One brand did gum up my machine needle horribly. I promptly returned it. I think it was Dritz or June Taylor, whatever brand my Wal-Mart carries. So, I haven't tried hand quilting with the spray. I did try hand quilting after glue basting with watered down Elmers and it was hard to quilt through. I hate the pins, so I hand baste now on everything but small projects or ones I'm machine quilting. Those I glue baste...no gumming and the machine can handle the glue. I hand quilt most of my quilts. Maybe someone has used the 505 with hand quilting and can chime in.

Spray basting isn't recommended for hand quilting ....
.......but we all do lots of things we are told we should not!!! (quilting and otherwise!)

So go for it ... do a sample piece and decide if it will work for you.

For me, not harder at all! Wouldn't be without it. No needles have become "sticky" or dull because of it! I use Sullivan's.
