Well, you can tell I'm not real good on the computer either. LOL What DO I do to get the quote to appear like it should? :?: :?:

I also tried both methods but the stab stiching doesn't work for me. The stitches on the back of the quilt look so crooked! Therefore I do the stitches in one movement.
Try what is best for you!

I use John James brand needles for hand quilting, size 8 to 10 and I use a quilting thread that is glazed, it doesn't know up as bad. I taught myself to quilt with quilting books from the local library and I live in a small house so I taught myself without a hoop or frame. I have a ring thimble that I ordered from hancock of paducha (ONLINE) and I really like that, or else I just use a normal metal thimble.

I know a master quilter (HAND QUILTER) and at the time my stitches were longer than I liked. she told me it was ok to have longer stitches as long as they were consistent in size. only practice will get your stitches shorter. I started with one stitch like you are talking about-down and up. then with confidence you'll be able to "load" your needle up. hand quilting is so rewarding to me so stay with it!

I went out today and got some needles.. John James #9 and Roxannes #10.. now I need some type of thimble or thimbles! I did see the ring type that you were speaking of Ohioquilter. I was tempted to get that too and another by Clover that is leather ( was rather expensive ) I think I will need one for the thumb as well, seems I want to do pushing with my thumb!
