I use a thimble because I don't particularly like poking holes in my fingers. It was very combersome at first, but I made myself use one. I have found that the cheapy ones that I find at Walmart work just fine. That way if I lose it I haven't wasted a lot of money. At first I had only one and then couldn't find it, so the next time I was in Walmart I bought several.

You don't have to use thimbles - just make sure you tell them about the option of using them. I remember when I was teaching my first 'student' - I would present to her the different ways of doing things - tell her which one I thought was easiest, from experience, and then let her decide which way she would do it!

Well, I learned something here...I thought pretty much all needles were the same, always buy mine at JoAnnes or Walmart. I will sure look at the LQS for those!

I've done some hand quilting, but after seeing yours, I would LOVE to take a class from you. I think handouts to take home are important. You will be covering so much information, it's good to review later.
