Congrats on your "new" machine! You're going to love it!

Thanks, Jim, for posting this site. I;ve bookmarked it as I have 2 Featherweights and no manuals. The one from a flea market was stated in May 1938!!! My MIL's we will need to check. How fun is it to have this machine and folks here who are so knoweldgeable about them!

Congrats on your new machine. If you google singer featherweight serial numbers it will tell you when she was born.

When I turned and saw that little black case I told him not to let go !!!!! I am so happy to FINALLY get my fat little fingers on one of those I could bust a gut !!!!. So now where do I go to find out when she was born?

Happy birthday and how great to have found the machine in a carrying case. Have fun with it.

Happy birthday !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't forget to thread the needle opposite of a larger sewing machine. My sister has a feather weight machine, and we could not get it to sew, we took it in to a shop and right off the gentleman said, thread the needle the opposite way.... well we did that and it sewed great. Thanks for all the birthday wishes and links. I did manage to find that "Bernadette" was born June 10,1955
Soon as I get back home and get some stuff taken care of I'll be looking for a manual (since she came without one)and any tips or hints on how to clean her up.....and just where to get parts. I do have a question about the case though....did all FW's have the tray that could be lifted out ..or not? Mine doesn't (looks like there isn't enough room for one) Feel free to PM me with suggestions...they will be greatly appreciated.

Both of my boxes are different. One of mine is a 1950 and has the tray that is lifted out. The tray fits over the top of the machine and foot pedal. The tray holds all the attachments and oil etc...
Both boxes have a key also You can get a manual from the Singer site.......
