Since it is a memory quilt, I think that a combination of machine and hand-quilting would give it an even stronger unique vibe. I love big-stitch quilting, and STID is just to hold the 3 layers together. Have fun with it.

I, for one, do not like SITD because mine never looks good. I can't seem to control my stitching, so I don't do it.
