It is another "copy cat idea" I think because Rebecca Wat published a book called "Fantastic Fabric Folding" c1960, C&T Publishers, Lafayette, CA. And it includes this idea along with others. I made a couple of the pattern you are talking about...would not recommend it for a child, unless it is a wall hanging...something cute, bright, and lovely for a young child's wall. And easier and quicker than a quilt. Might want to consider that for the child.

The Candy Dish Quilts looks really cool! Little children would probably like the idea it has all those flowers to touch. Could put them on in different textures and it would really be little kid friendly.

When I was a kid I picked at stuff like that... I had a fuzzy bedspread with no fuzz after a while.

I would not make this for a child, a childs quilt should never have anything loose on it.
This could be a choking hazard, as well as the pieces being pulled off.
There are plenty of childrens pieced quilt patterns available,
especially with all the wonderful childrens fabric available today.

I agree with susie, I think it might end up looking like something the cat dragged in. Plus with a childs quilt it needs to stand up to frequent washing. Unless you plan to use it as a wall quilt, It would brighten up a room for sure.

you would need to be very careful of places where little fingers could get caught - don't want any broken fingers. would make a pretty wall hanging or table runner

    The folding looks difficult.

It is a cute pattern, but I don't think it would stay folded up that way if it is used all the time.

The first question is how old is the child. Then, how much time & effort do you want to put in making a quilt for a child. If it is to be used everyday & washed frequently, then I'd say make something that can stand up to the wair and tear. If it is being used as part of the decorating theme, go for it.

I'm definitely trying this one out, but is far from child friendly - too many hidy holes for busy little fingers! Thanks for sharing the link!
