I love to hand stitch my binding on so have never tried to use the machine binding foot that came with my machine. I do know a lot of people like to machine stitch their binding on but it just isn't for me.

I am one of those who tried one in a class at sew expo. I was impressed with it, but the project we made was a simple bag, and the binding attachment was used to sew binding up one side of the bag, continue on the binding fabric to make a strap, then go back down the opposite side of the bag. The ends of the binding were tied in "decorative" knots. I liked it, but my thinking was if using it for quilts, how do you go around the corner of a quilt? That was something the demo did not address at all; in fact it was almost like the instructor deliberately avoided it.

I had the Martinelli seam binder.....hated it.....gave it away!!!! Glad I don’t have to even look at it anymore. I wonder if the lady that got it liked it???????????

.. seemed too much money although it did work well ---- but don't all those gadgets work well when someone is demo-ing them! LOL
Those doing a demo have been using the 'tool' for a long time. I do not get taken in anymore, I just use what has worked for me in the past.

I have a set of binding attachment feet for various size bindings. However, none of them make a binding suitable for a quilt, IMHO. they’re all too narrow, and look “manufactured”. Handy for craft projects when bindings are called for, but I do t use this method for my quilts. Best foot I’ve found for machine binding the fold down to the front of the quilt, is the Edge Foot (#10 on BERNINA).
