Awesome, at one of the quilt shows that I went to they have a bed turning demonstration, all the quilts on the bed and they took them off for show and tell, was fun (on an old antique metal bed)

Our local QG did a trunk show this spring at the local assisted living home for National Quilt Day. We made the show last about an hour and we all brought things we had made or were working on. Plus some of the residents had homemade quilts on their beds and we showed them off, too. Everyone was pleased with how it turned out. It was our first time doing one and we thought we might try another when the local community has a fall marathon race, just for something different to see and do when people are in town. Don't know how runners (and spouses)will mix with a trunk show but will let you know. :-)

I could never do a trunk show.... I gave away every quilt I ever made! I don't own one single quilt that has come from my sewing machine, unless it is a top that I haven't finished yet. I have a few quilts in my house that my great grandmother made and one of my aunts made for my children when they were born... otherwise, just unfinished projects.

My guild has had a lot of trunk shows over the years. Every month the program committee brings in a speaker and they normally do a trunk show. They get some famous people and some from within the guild. I have also done one with my mother and sister, I had to ask for a bunch of quilts back to show but everyone was great about it.

I was also at the trunk show for Robin Pandolph that was at a guild about an hour away the week before someone stole all of her quilts. They were amazing to see... to bad the person that stole them doesn't realize the value in those quilts.

OMG, I can't even imagine having all those quilts stolen! Maybe whoever stole them does realize the value. I've noticed that the number of quilts being stolen, both directly and from the mail, seems to be on the increase. I sure hope Robin Pandolph had her quilts appraised! It doesn't fix things but it's better then nothing. How sad!!

The truely sad part is that they were stolen from her own driveway! She had just returned home and they stole the suitcase from her car. I'm sure most of them were appraised but some were ones she had just finished for her new line of fabrics.

Does someone coming to our guild with her trunk show count? If yes, then a couple, have I gone and paid to go to one, no.

Yes, those definitely count! And technically you are paying for them because they are covered in your yearly dues. ;) At least that is how I look at it. Often a guild will pay someone to do a trunk show, especially if it is a national instructor, so I'd say this counts.
