Have you ever seen a bobbin do this?

Yes I also have a brother it happens when the bobbin is wound too loose or if you put bobbin in wrong also once when machine got partially unthreaded you can tell I have had my share of this oproblem

Old thread can do this also. I started using my (long gone) Mom's threads and this sort of thing was the result. After the "old thread" incidents I had some problems again with new thread. I talked to my repair man and he told me to use "Bottom Line" -- it is thinner, stronger, and works like a charm. If I have trouble now its because my machine has been moved and the settings are whacky. Luck of the Irish... I walked into a store and they were discontinuing their Bottom Line and I bought about 30 colors for half price!!!!

Unfortunately it has happened to me. Reasons - improperly wound bobbin, not the correct bobbin (I didn't realize that all plastic bobbins didn't fit all machines) and/or old thread. It too cost me $ to find this out! Live and learn I guess!

I had a machine that I had to really watch what the spool was doing when I would a bobbin. For some reason the thread would either wind too loose or get caught around the thread spool holder and wind too tight! I finally changed brands of thread and everything worked just fine.

Yes, what happens is if you have even 1 loop sticking out from your bobbin, you needle and thread get tangled up and rips the bobbin threads until it bogs down the machine causing the clunk clunk noise.

I have had similiar happen when I did not hear a "click" when installing a bobbin w/case in a vertical bobbin.
Always push the bobbin in until it clicks when using a bobbin that goes in the case then in the bobbin assembly.
