Welcome to the Quilting Board!
anything you always do in a quilt, kind of your signature style?
I've been noticing all my quilts have sashing.
Yea....... I've noticed all my quilts have mistakes in them.

Gasp! Me too! :DOriginally Posted by auntluc
You guys are funny!!! Only you can see those "mistakes" Those who those quilts are made for only see the love you put into them.
Must have been thinking the same thing at the same time.
I have a tendency to point out every mistake I make in a quilt when I show them to people. Otherwise, they wouldn't have a clue I made a mistake. Anyone else do that or is it a Virgo thing?
no it is not a Virgo thing i am a leo and i point out the mistakes also !!!!!!!!!!!
So why do we do that to ourselves
You know it's alright if I point out my own mistakes but, by golly, I get upset when someone else shows me something I hadn't noticed myself first.
I do the same thing!Originally Posted by auntluc
I like to put a scripture verse on my quilt labels...oh yes, i like to point out my mistakes too, and how i covered them up an "easy way" lol lol lol
Mistakes comes to my mind too! But then they say that no quilt is perfect, and with all the sewing done on it, how could it be? Agree with the Virgo critique though.
Well, my family doesn't know anything about quilts, so I don't tell them a thing . I love being praised
I like borders but it took several quilts for me to get them to lay flat.....way to much fullness for the machine quilter to work with. A few tips from her on applying borders and I finally am getting it right.
I noticed that lately I have worked with bold colors.
Yes, I always point out my mistakes in everything I do and then get mad at myself for doing that.
Donna
Gosh, and here all this time I thought that mistake thing was my own personal signature on every quilt I make! Guess I'm not so special after all!!!!
Borders keep the seams from coming apart. I made one quilt without borders and my seams started to come apart so be sure and backstiche.
I very seldom repeat the same block in the same colors - and I sash almost always (it's the glue that pulls the multicolored blocks into a cohesive unit).
I tried to not make mistakes by deliberately putting in one obvious mistake in each quilt . . . .and if y'all are buyin' that, I got this great big ol' bridge for sale . . .
All You Guys -- Just tell them you are Amish. The Amish believe that only God is perfect; therefore they put in a mistake on purpose!! :D
I agree with the mistake thing...mine all have multiples of those...and...yes, I do point them out..and no I'm not virgo..but I do it anyway.
I'm so new to quilting that I try to do something very different on each quilt so I learn a new technique or block..so I purposely try not to do anything the same on any quilt right now. I do tend to always have some type of star block in all my quilts though.
I agree with auntluc....  I guess everyone else too...thought it was just me...here I'm normal....I'll be darn... :D
 I had one of the squares turned around, but I fixed it and checked it several times before continuing.
It's good to show someone the top BEFORE you quilt it, that way someone will let you know if you goofed. Thankfully, people have let me know before I quilted it a time or two.
But hey, isn't that part of being "handmade"?
The colour purple, even when I try to make a quilt without it, that colour will juz sneak in there
When people ask me if I put a deliberate mistake in my quilts like the Amish, I tell them I don't have to...I know they'll be there no matter how hard I try NOT to make mistakes! :) :D :P
