If you have a cat that might be why they disappear ! My cat can hear me using one on my nails when she is in another room and comes running ..literally....and trys to take it away from me. Sometimes my thread gets caught in the tiny slit on edge of spool thread. I use Emory board to sand it down!

I use one of those old metal nail files. Got the idea when packing for a flight & started to trash the file since it couldn't be on the flight. It's small, flat, and helps so much
