I know a lot of us are kitty lovers so do any of you have the Emery cat and do your kitties use it? Is it worth the money or is it just another gadget I think I have to have but never gets used? My cats seem to prefer my furniture! I have a scratching surface for them but nothing beats the couch or the chair! "Wait, I'm almost down to the wooden frame on the recliner, scratch some more!" Gotta love them!

I've found that mine like to be able to stretch as they're scratching so I bought them the climbing stands that are about 5-6 feet tall that have at least one post covered in sissal (sp?) rope. They leave the furniture alone but they love my rolling sewing machine case because it's brocade.

Kola uses this.......
And we keep an old wooden barrel (old nail keg)near the front door. She uses that to let us know she wants outside. Sometimes she scratches at the door jambs too.

my hubby made me get some of those because he believed the commercial that it was like an emery board. not!! it's just cardboard, like most scratchers. the cats like it fine but it is just cardboard. they do seem to like the curved shape though.

I use the same post Chasing Hawk uses for my cats. They don't like the ones with carpet. My girl kitty also likes my sofa, which is very frustrating. They are both indoor cats and would not do well outside at this point. I tried the other types of scratching posts and such and they always seem to prefer the rope type.

I'll have to try a rope one. We have a carpet one, and only 1 of 4 uses it. I also have a big piece of driftwood from the beach in front of the fireplace, and the same 1 cat uses that, too. He's my good boy! The other 3 think the furniture is the A-1 scratching post, and they are ruining my furniture!! UHHHHHGGGHHHH!!!
