See if you can find one of Bonnie Hunter's books, preferably the first one. Shirts and clothing are her "thing". She goes to thrift stores and gets shirts and clothes for quilts. I think you'll be pleased. Good Luck!!

I recently made 3 for a coworker who lost her husband and she gave me t-shirts and cotton/silk hawaiian shirts. One great tip-stabilize all fabrics and t-shirts with fusible interfacing. I did not know that woven silk would stretch, but I found out the hard way. Stabilize the t-shirst before cutting to keep the fabric from curling. They were crazy quilts with picture transfers. If it had of been only t-shirts, I could have squared up better and made more uniform. Hope this helps! To see pics, go to Pictures, My labor of love on January 6, 2011.
