Help and adice please you lovely lot
#1
I'm fairly new to P&Q and have used this forum so much to read, follow and improve. Today I followed a link on paper piecing and used some 'seaside' fabrics and was pleased with the results. My quandary now is how to use them (and plenty of others yet to be created). I'd like to make a quilt but don't know whether to add sashing (and don't know how). So you lovely helpful lot across the pond, please have a look at my not too clear photo and give me some ideas (and a tute if necessary pretty please).
Thanks in advance

I like your mix of fabrics. How about adding some solid (or look-like-solid)fabrics mixed in with these to do a comfort quilt, or childs quilt, etc. Cut solids the same size as these blocks then play with the layout until you like it.

Your selection of fabric is beautiful. I love the combination of colors in them together. This is what I usually do when I try to make decisions like this. I take my finished blocks to my local fabric store and pick out different fabric colors that I think might look good with my blocks and then lay them out on a table and use my imagination. Good luck. Your paper piecing looks great.

I would not sash beteen these lovely blocks. If you put them right against each other, you will get a very pretty secondary design. As for the borders, I would go with a skinny blue (in the same tone as the blue in the blocks - nice and warm) and a pinky wider one. Binding in blue. That's would be my taste.

Those are Great color combos !!
If you want to add sashing, make strips as long as the blocks are wide , add to 1 side of each block, then a couple of options for other side, depending if you want a different color in the corners, or solid for solid add a piece wide as both together. can also use one solid strip, but use lost of care when putting together or can get wonky.
Good Luck no matter what you do will turn out Great!!

In order to add a sashing, I found a tute which is not bad:
