Help! Color choice for threads.
Do you think it would look to bad to meander quilt the dark fabric with white thread? I play to meandering around the applique shapes in white. And wondered if an allover white would look bad on the maroon?

I would probably play safe, meander round the appliqué in cream and change to maroon for the border Btw I am a bit ocd bout colours and before I started quilting everything was matchy matchy lol. I am better now honest X

For me it would depend on my backing fabric. I try to match my spool and bobbin colours whenever possible. Are you using a dark or light back? If the back is light and your FMQ skills are really good then go for it!

Thank you! I am worried that the white thread will stand out too much on the dark fabric. That it will take away from the applique, so I am going to try and use two different colors. My worry is I have trouble with tensions and the thread is two different threads. This will sure test my average machine quilting ability! ;-)

What a cute quilt. I made a maroon and white quilt for a MS State fan friend of mine. I used maroon thread. Either would do fine with your quilt. White will lighten the maroon and maroon will darken the white. Both will pull it together.

I think this is what I will do. I think it will look better that white thread on dark fabric. Plus any boo boo quilting stitches will sure stand out. Hope I can do bobbin tension on two different threads. ;-) Thanks for the reply!

that is an adorable quilt! I love it great job. I think either way you will look nice. So often I tend to go with variegated threads for quilting. Its not always easy to find a match though. Pictures make it hard to match colors, but King Tut has some very pretty variegated threads. Chalice, Sphinx, and Sarah Shadows are very nice - but not sure how close those colors actually are to your fabric I am sure there are other brands of variegated threads that have nice colors as well
