I think your colors are just right. They sure look like water. Your quilt will be lovely.

i love the blues but I think you need a couple of highlights - perhaps a very, very light blue and a white. This would give it a very sharp contrast line. How the pictured one uses the white and black.

I think what you have will be great. I made that one with blues/greens. I think yours will seem very much like "waves".

Here's mine in that color scheme. All recycleds. No batiks. I can't see why batiks would necessarily cause movement.

bayyjayy, I made a quilt with 42 prints. I can't tell you how many ended up in the rejected pile before I got it "right". You will use them all eventually. Very pretty. justflyingin, you get the prettiest quilts from the recycleds.

I love seeing everyone's quilts. It is amazing how they are all the same quilt and look so different because of the coloring.

klswift...if you look at page 4 you will see I added a white and a realllllly light blue, and a sky blue....hope they will work.

I can't wait to get started and see the end result. You guys are all so awesome for sharing your pictures and expertise with a newbie!!

I'm not sure there is enough contrast to make the "wave" show up. Surf song calls for two different color ways that makes the quilt look 3 d.

I think your selection is great. I will admit to choosing many fabrics then eliminating the ones that don't work - so go buy more. You will get the hang of it.
