    Help! Colorado Log Cabin

Colorado Log Cabin is a regular Log Cabin except that in the last (outer) set of four logs, you put a 45 degree diamond in each corner. When you put the blocks together, you have log cabins with 8 point stars in the corners. It is a beautiful quilt!

Problem is, my directions, in a book by Judy Martin, were written for template cutting, not rotary cutting. They are somewhere around 2 13/16" for the square, and odd lengths and widths for the rest of the logs.

I am a pretty experienced "adapter" and "adjuster" and "resizer" but there are too many dimensions in this one, all of which depend of the others to fit exactly.

Does anybody have this pattern for rotary cutting so you can tell me how/where to get it? Thanks so much!!!!
Mistakes are just opportunities to invent a new quilting technique!

Thanks, QuiltnNan! Don't know if that is the pattern the OP is looking for, but that is one cool block!

That's a gorgeous pattern - I'd love to make one for my friend in Colorado. But no, I MUST get on with the UFOs first!

Thank you for the link! I like this variation of the Log Cabin. Also fun to see another Wanda on here. There aren't many of us with that name.

You are welcome! To WMD926--it is nice to see another Wanda here. When I was young, there was no one with my name, but as I get older, I am finding more and more named Wanda!

Couldn't you just measure the templates Judy provided and use those measurements for rotary cutting?

    Log Cabin Hidden Stars example

The Log Cabin Hidden Stars pattern is really easy to do and worth the effort. Here is one I made 2 years ago and donated to our community quilt program after displaying it in our local guild's quilt show.
