My thoughts too, my adult son will push a dozen coffee cups out of the way to get to one that doesn't have flowers on it - LOL

Personally, I really like quilts that include a very dark fabric; I think the contrast with the rest of the fabrics makes everything more interesting. The very dark also helps the piecing stay distinct. Sometimes without enough contrast fabrics can end up "mushing" together.
Ooooh, I like the idea of a dark purple or navy with the other colors!

Thanks all for your kind comments and suggestions. As to the florals, I guess I was thinking more of "manly colours". I had no idea that men wouldn't like florals on a dark background. I know of several men who garden. Ah well. Back to the drawing board.

I like your colors but would subsitute the purple florals. Having a husband, a dad, and 3 sons, none of them go for florals. Vines, bark, branches, yes--but not flowers. My suggestion is to keep your tan and red, but substitute the lighter purple with light grey and the darker purple with eggplant. Think grunge, pinstripes (shirting), geometrics, solids.

Do you have something you can substitute for the flowers? If the quilt is for a man.......just saying.....
