i don't understand how this chart helps to enlarge the block in question.

its part strip piecing and part paper piecing - so how exactly does this chart distinguish between the 2 different sections of the block

Call it easy or call me lazy, but I would print off the pattern, take it to the local Kinko's or whatever and have them enlarge it.

    Amma,
Thank you so much for the template
downloads that you have posted. I do
like to make the 12" blocks myself.

I guess I am a 'red-neck' quilter for I take a big piece of paper (paper grocery sack opened if you don't store rolled paper/or old wrapping paper's backside-where the squares to cut from are a blessing!!) and I draw out w/a ruler my 12"...then divide the paper in 1/3rds going across and down (horizontal/diag. for those that need technical)LOL then draw out that pattern. Very easy and quick and depending on the pattern....I can cut one direction of the 1/3rds and paper piece by row..then attach the 3 rows in the end. Just keep your lines even and all will be fine:)I add my seam allances when I cut at the paper piecing finishing:)Hope that helps 'simplify' the think...Skeat

OMG know I remember WHY I love this board so much, you all are so helpful. Now to figure out templates, not sure why there are so many diaonds and triangles but that is for when I am not half asleep. I think I am going to paper piece the diamond blocks though ,seeing how this is my first peiced block.I will definitely post pictures when I do it .I do however like the idea to add a border around the edge .WHY is it you never think of something like that when you are trying to do things. THANK YOU ALL sooo much.

The first set of templates is what you need to piece the block the tradional way. IF you want to paperpiece the diamonds, I added the second set of templates for that method and then you would ignore those templates for that portion of the block, in the first set.
