Can you please give me suggestions on which of these two borders you would use or would you use both and if so what sizes?

The first picture is of my dissapearing nine patch quilt top and the second is of the two fabrics I have from this collection that I have enough of for the borders.

The light green will be the backing fabric and I have a stripe for the binding.

This is only my second quilt so I am having a bit of a problem deciding on which border or borders to put on this top.

Thanks in advance for your opinions.

I would do a 4-6 inch red, depending how big you want your quilt, maybe the binding could be the other fabric. Very pretty quilt

I agree with border suggestions here and that quilt is super. I will have to do one too. I think I have those fabrics too. Happy quilting. You are off to a great start.

I am thinking the red, because the top has a bunch of the green, but not that much red.... so I think I would go with the red...

I'd go with a wide red border, with the binding also in red.

Not to be different but I would do a 2" border of the red to frame the center. Then a 5 or 6" border of the green. Binding in the red. Can you tell I like multiply borders.
Can't wait to see what you do.

I like to do a small border in a color that will frame the quilt first, like the red, and then a larger outer border.

I like multiple borders also. I would do red first, then the green. By the way, your quilt top is gorgeous!

I totally agree with bjeriann, 2" border of the red and then a 5 or 6" border of the green. Does your stripe have both the red and green in it?

I agree. I know you said you have a stripe for the binding though, and I'm a sucker for striped binding. :)

Depending on how big you want your quilt I would put a 2in. border of the green then a wider of the red.

I would have to see how the red and the green each look right next to the binding. Right now I am leaning toward the red or a skinny red and wider green. Can you post a pic of the binding fabric?

I don't care for the green-too washed out. Red border would look best.

I think the quilt needs a narrow border to contain the colors - like a really dark green, the a wide border of the red. If you use the red without a containing strip, then those red blocks on the edge will visually bleed into the border. It doesn't take much fabric. I cut mine 1 1/4 inches wide.

Use the red . It will frame the quilt and add a punch of color. The green is too pale for this top! Love it! A narrow(1-2" border of a dark color like black) and then the red border would look Fab', but it has to be narrow. I would do a 1'black first!
    peace :D
