Red or variagated, will make things pop and add to an already beautiful quilt!

Beautiful. I would use white unless the quilting is part of the design. Then I would use black. I did a Black and white wedding quilt. I put pink hearts in the center of alternating squares. Sent it out to a quilter and she used hot pink. I was disappointed. I didn't want to showcase her quilting.

I agree, I think invisible or white would be look great.

I would sometimes think that translucent thread works well but also what you have asked red is my choice

What color are you using on the back for backing? Maybe something to match that.
