I have a 30 year old Kenmore that still runs like a dream. I also have a 10 year old Pfaff that is very picky. Check out what Sears and Wal Mart have.

A while ago I had a lower-end Brother that ran really well. I passed it on to a friend who used to work with industrial machines and she likes it. Find out what features you can't live without and go from there. Good luck on your search.
