Thanks .. that sounds like something that I can do. Some of the fabric is larger pieces but I'll probably hand wash everything in one session. I think I can get it done pretty quickly, it's all of the cutting that will take time.

Your fabric sounds beautiful....when you quilt are you going to use a Japanese style (Sashiko) or blend the Japanese fabric with American style?
The shibori patterns themselves are pretty large so I'll be working with larger pieces to show them off. I'll probably use something like 6x10" brick shapes. I don't think I want the quilting to be prominent in this one as the shibori cottons already have a beautiful texture to them. I think I'll either machine or hand quilt plain straight horizontal lines. I don't know ... I guess I'll have to come back to that when I finish piecing!

I haven't tried it, but I was told that a salad spinner is a great way to wash small pieces of fabric that may be fragil. I use Orvus (horse shampoo) for my vintage fabrics and quilts. You can buy it at a farm store for much less then they sell in quilt shops.
