I was not actually quilting and drinking red wine. I was enjoying a glass and the quilt was in a large bag under my end table. Unfortunately the bag wasn't under the table fully and the wine spilled in exactly the right direction to go in the bag.I have learned my lesson and will sit on the other side of the room when drinking anything. This was my first time using Oxy clean and I was impressed. Also some spilled on the beige carpet, hubby cleaned this up and said the quilt was more important than the carpet!

Well, that'll teach you to never leave your wine glass full...LOL. I've used Oxyclean on tablecloths before it it worked well on the red wine. I've never heard of using shaving cream...worth a try, maybe.

Club soda was what I was trying to think of. Heaven forbid it ever happens to anyone or again, the first thing is to absorb as much with towels or paper towels to get the excess. Put the paper towel in the middle so the liquid is drawn to the towel. A sponge works well also. Then use the club soda. I have done this on light carpet and but used 7 up. It's the carbonation that works it loose.

I read all the posts and see that you got the stain out. I am glad for you. I started to say your experience with the wine made me glad I am a teetotaler and then remembered the cup of coffee I spilled all over a project just this morning. I, too, am grateful for OxiClean, which has saved my bacon more than once. froggyintexas

I am SO glad that you were successful in getting the red wine stain out! My go to has always been OxyClean for laundry stains and Tide sticks for my purse. I have used this product so long - when I first started purchasing it it was only available from an infomercial!! I did not know that there was a liquid OxyClean - I have always used the "powdered" which is hard to dissolve. I will have to look for it.
I love Happy Ending Stories - even if the in between journey was dreadful! Maybe I should switch to white wine . . . just thinking . . .
