ck'ed no only one blade, tried it on my friends today, wouldn't work there either, I guess the cutter is just old and won't cut at all. oh well. that blade refused to cut on both sides of my mat and both sides of my friends too.

I had the same problem and had to buy a new cutter. My cutter was several years old.

I was in the same situation with a cutter that was only 3 years old. I bought new blades, tried tightening and loosening the screw, changed cutting board and nada . Ended up buying a new cutter and thought I died and went to quilting heaven. The cuts were fantastic. Somehow I think the housing for the blade was warped which prevented a smooth cut.

I certainly think you should get a new mat. I have read that the mats get grooves/slits--after using them a long time. I would do that before buying a new rotary cutter.

I had this happen just the other day... The cutter was rolling fine but felt like it had a FLAT TIRE! Turns out when I changed to new blade I put the cutter together backwards. I have the old style Olfa 45mm cutter with the BIG black screw head on the same side as the safety that slides up to cover the blade when not in use. Google your type of cutter for a video of how to change the blade. BTW - I have been rotary quilting for 20 years and this is the 2nd time I have put it in backwards... duh ! I seriously doubt that the cutter itself every wears out... but ya never know!!! Happy Quilting
