If you use that gorgeous fabric for the borders I would fussy cut right through the center of the design so that the R & L borders mirror each other. You could do the same for the top and bottom, but you'll have to piece them so the pattern matches. What about a dark solid for the corner blocks?

I do love the material and it would be a beautiful border. However, I think you should make the design work hard for you.
I would do some type of kaleidoscope , stack and whack or One Block wonder block. It could be something as simple as 4 quarter square triaangles with the same design repeat. Or using a kaleidoscope ruler. You could do a different block in each corner of the border.

I was in Tryon, NC and met Marilyn Doheny, quilt artist. She does wonderful things with assorted sizes of wedge rulers (she invented them) and fabric like yours. The more richly patterned the better. Take a look at her website as well as her books and see what you think:

I am trying to work my way through a number of obligations so I can disappear into my sewing room and get started on some of her ideas. And, no, I have no business connection with Marilyn. My Tryon friend wrote, "Come and meet a serious quilter who lives in Tryon." So, I am adding "wonderfully creative artist" to the "serious quilter" and writing to you.
Looking forward to hearing what you all think.

my suggestion is to add a solid border, then take and fussy cut a design in the fabric to make an applique on the boarder. It would showcase the fabric, but overwhelm the whole quilt.

This is also my best idea for your quilt. You could try just a 4 Patch Posey for the corner blocks if you don't want to try to miter.
