Satin is so difficult to work with, can't imagine trying to make a quilt with it. Isn't there a cute little girl you can make a dress for so you don't have to fight that stuff through a whole quilt, even a small one?

Press it with spray 'sizing' before you cut. Helps keep the raveling down to a manageable amount. Use more pins than you think you will need, then use some more! Remember, every stitch will leave a hole. Unseaming is going to show. Take your time. I made a fancy satin western shirt years ago for a 'Lone Ranger' Halloween costume. It is still the only thing I ever made out of satin. Draw your own conclusions. Some people sew with satin all the time. I am not one of them!

Don't use satin - use wide satin ribbon (JK Ribbon and Trims sells it wholesale) or get several packages of satin quilt binding and use that. It WON'T ravel so much.

Please understand I was using Cotton satin. DO not iron acetate satin! It melts and makes a mess of your iron!

Starch and stabelize (spelling?) would be my thought. But, i wouldn't use it if I didn't have to. You could use a stencil paint brush and put no-fray on the edges, but that would be a chore

I agree too. Satin walks on you when you are trying to cut it and even sewing is a problem. I had to make 3 brides-maid dresses out of purple satin and boy did I have trouble. If you really have to --iron a thin interfacing on to the back before cutting out. Do it in sections--or better still give it to some one else if you aren't making scrappy quilts.
