Here is an idea for a "Quilt Retreat Weekend"
#1
Well, we all love our quilting so much and it never seems as though I have time with working or can afford a retreat.
So, I read a post today that made me think of an idea for a "Quilting Weekend". Someone had got together with 5 sisters to visit and that gave me the idea.....
If there is anyone out there that is having a hard time in this economy and cannot afford the "Retreats" and all, then maybe think about this. Gather a few friends together and rent a motel room, share on cost.....enjoy sewing, pool, sauna, hot tub, etc. and with a few quilting friends will not cost much at all but a relaxing weekend away. Take a couple 3 foot folding tables, etc. Sleep, eat and be merry......but most of all have fun "quilting" and you have had your own little retreat. Best of all you can do this for less than $40 or $50 or get an efficiency room and just have fun.
Also, if someone has a quilting friend that lives a lone, maybe have a pajama party and able to do it for free, etc. and all chip in for everything. For sure, this would be great get away!!!!!
So, what you all think......starting to put together thoughts and ideas? Winter is coming all!!!

great idea,
this is what they do in Shipshewana, Indiana for the pj party they get motel rooms, sew in their rooms and go back and forth to see what everyone is making, take food and eat out, great idea!
also I checked with a Bed and Breakfast as they hold quilting and scrapbooking retreats and really cheap like $40.00 a person
nice big bedrooms, downstairs is a big room for sewing, big kitchen and also has washer and dryer, you walk to another building to dining room to eat your free breakfast
also sometimes you can rent a big room at a college and sew sew sew and stay in dorms cheap during the summer
also some hotels will give out group rates for so many # of rooms

In our small town we rented the Conference room at the local motel for two days. We did not stay over night, however with 15 of us it only cost $10.00 per person and we brought our quilting supplies and sewed for two days. A couple of the ladies did demonstrations and I taught a class. What fun.
