Hickory Hill "Hickory Nut" Quilt templates
I have the small & large acrylic Hickory Nut template sets & have run into a problem. The shell width of the large shell is 1", while the shell width of the small shell is 1-1/8". The large motifs came out fine. The small motifs are what I'm having a problem with. The larger 1-1/8" width of the small shell means that the last foldovers of the shell come to points, & the last narrow point makes the final foldover very bulky. To me, it doesn't make sense that the smallest motif shell width is wider than the large. The "nut" ends up with barely more than an inch diameter showing. I can't figure out a fix for this other than re-trimming all the small shells after cutting them out using the templates, which would be a needless waste of fabric & time. Has anyone else made motifs using the smaller size?

I remember Eddie's tutorial on this. Loads of people posted their Hickory nuts after he put that tute up. Thanks for digging it up Thimblebug. I miss Eddie, he always had so much to contribute. Wish he still participated.
