Hi all,

I recently saw some beautiful old Lonestar (or Star of Bethlehem) quilts, and they were beautiful! I am interested in making one, but I want to keep it simple, avoid paper piecing, and preferably use a strip-pieced method. Ideally, I would make in Kaffe Fassett prints.

Does anyone have any suggestions for good Lonestar quilt patterns that match these requests? I'm happy to buy a pattern, but I'm not sure where to look! Any help is most appreaciated. :)

I made a couple of them way back when, and they were stripped pieced, very easy to do, but for the life of me do not know where the pattern is, or where I got it. I know my sister wanted to make one so while I was visiting her, we hit the quilt atore, and each got fabric, and the nwxt day I made mine so when sister came home from work I could teach her how to do one. must be 19- 20 years ago.

yes that is how we did it, see post above!!

In the book Quilts Quilts Quilts. I made mine using this book and had no problems. I found the directions and pictures easy to follow.

This book has tons of great patterns, tips and techniques. I think it is well worth adding to your library.

elenor burns is the queen of strip piecing, i bet she has a good one...try quilt in a day's web site.
when i made mine i used the quiltsmart interfacing. made it very easy. i made one 'from-scratch' it was the hardest quilt i ever made. i like using the interfacing.

There's a little book called, CUT-NO-DIAMONDS by Betty Gall that is very easy. You can buy it on Amazon.
