Hopeless color selector
#1

I wonder if any of you ladies could offer me a helping hand. I recently bought the Prairie Star quilt pattern from Judy Neimyer? My husband I sits that it be done in greys, blacks, yellows and reds. Si ce ism horrific at color selection, I wonder if any of you could MAYBE pick out some fabrics for me or suggest some. I buy a lot of my materials from Thousands of bolts, but any site will do. I just need some choices.
If you can, just match so e up for me and give me the website and fabric order numbers and I can make my selection.
I know, silly huh,but I'm not all that gres a choosing fabric and I want this thing to be spectacular.
Thanks, y'all!

There is a red, black & gray sample shown at the site below. You could replace some of the reds with yellow maybe. As for fabrics, I think it would look best in prints that are more blender than multi color so that it doesn't take away from the pattern itself. For example, if the design on the fabric had a similar color to the background, and the design fell in the point area near the background, you wouldn't get the full effect of the pattern. The first sample pic has some printed fabrics, but they don't appear to distract from the design because of the print size/color.

I just want to commiserate with you. I am not great at picking out fabrics myself. I usually buy kits or fabric lines. I sometimes have a shop keeper help me if I know for certain that I like what they like. I feel ya!

There is a small red print in this collection that is very nice (I have some): http://www.thousandsofbolts.com/inde..._account_id=41 . (I also have some of the green print but not the little yellow one. ) That might make a good starting point for you. Good luck!

When I'm stuck on trying to pick out colors I will often pick out a fabric that has a color scheme that I like, and then find OTHER fabrics that match the colors in the "inspiration" fabric. I don't usually use or buy more than a swatch of the fabric I'm using as my inspiration; it's just a way for me to see colors together and find something that appeals to me.

Can't tell if this one is black or dark brown but it's awfully pretty: http://www.thousandsofbolts.com/inde...50&ParentCat=9 .
I'll stop now. I love looking at fabric. Any excuse LOL .
