Someone suggested washing them in a lingerie bag but that sure didn't work for me...strings all over the place!

I usually don't pre-wash fabrics because I'm lazy.

If I need to pre-wash for a project that I want to remain flat and smooth and not crinkle up, I will serge the edges of the fabric before washing.

Saturating the fabric with a 50/50 mix of starch and water and pressing seems to take care of most shrinkage and it also helps control fraying of the cut edges when I handle the pieces of fabric. :)
