Default How to corner

Hello, this is a corner of a 12 inch block I zoomed in on because I wanted to ask about it. It looks like a half square triangle with a smaller square in one corner but….
What is it called?
How is it cut?
How do you assemble?
Usually I can figure but can’t with this. I am stumped.Any info or guidance is appreciated.

Start with the small square, sew the triangles on either side, creating a triangle the same size as the large triangle. Sew the large triangle on to create the square.

Here's a tute. Called Mary's Triangles but am not sure if that is the regular name.

Here's another tutorial option.
https://seamslikeadream.com/shaded-f...h-quilt-block/

I have an entire book that is just quilts based on this block, but with the reorganization of my sewing room, books are in a box at the bottom of a stack right now. Drawing a blank on the author's name.

Ding, ding, ding, my mind must be on pause-
Thank you all so much! It seems simple now. It was part of this block

I would consider making a square in a square in a square, then cut it in quarters. I think that would work.... the dark color being the center square, the beige being the first "in a square" and the medium tone being the outer square.
