I watched my Mother make quilts when I was 9 years old so
when I decided I wanted to quilt I just got a magazine and
picked a pattern from it and made it, all the ones since then have been , see it do it type of thing.. :D

I started out by purchasing Eleanor Burns' Quilt in a Day Log Cabin book. I also worked in a fabric store, and learned things from both the women I worked with and the customers. I checked books out from the library, bought more quilt books and patterns, sat by my sister when I quilted at her home, took classes and also I am learning something new everyday here on the quilting board. It's been a really fun journey--and I ain't done yet!!!

My sister told me about a quilt retreat where we had a captive teacher all weekend and experienced quilters willing to help the newbies. Amazing what I learned that first weekend. :-D

I watched Simply Quilts on HGTV for years before I tackled one on my own. I started making denim/flannel quilts and loved it. I pieced some blocks that I still have not put into a block. This board have been wonderful, so many beautiful and inspiring people on this board to give you help. I think I am more addicted to this board than I am to quilting.

My aunt taught me how to sew and tailor garments when I was a child and when I decided to try quilting, I basically read books and experimented until I got what I wanted.

    trial and error.

Pretty much the story of my life. With no one around to instruct you kinda live by the seat of your pants! I just cross my fingers and hope it all turns out in the end. Most the time it does, sometimes it doesn't!

I had a pile of old clothes, a sewing machine and a husband who knew how to thread it. I really had no clue what I was doing, but that didn't stop me. My mission was simple. Produce something that could keep us warm. And it did, and still does. It's all kinds of wrong, but it doesn't matter. It still does it's job.

Not sure I've learned yet! lol. I'm self-taught with lots of books, a coworker who quilts and most importantly... this board!
