I know this topic probably has been worn out - but I have been trying to sort through and organize my fabrics.
The question is - I have sorted it by colors - Christmas is separate - but if you have several fabrics from the same collection, do you store them together?

Do you organize your florals separately, especially if they have several colors in them?
HELP!!!

I would say if they are from the same collection to keep those fabrics together to make it easier when you decide what you are going to make so they all coordinate.

1. Christmas Fabrics
2. Fabrics from same collection
3. Solid Colors sorted by colors to keep all in the same spot
(like all reds, oranges etc.) so at a glance you can see what you have
4. Batiks - all in one spot sorted by colors

How to Organize Scraps of Fabrics:
1. How to organize your scraps of fabrics
http://www.moonlightquilters.org/tipscraps.htm

2. look at this cool way to organize your scraps of fabric

3. favorite method of organizing scraps: http://quiltville.com/scrapusersystem.shtml

I am surfing and adding more links to my blog and here is a link for all of us to enjoy more things:

i keep collections together and then themes.

so it would be batiks, contemporary, ombre, hand dyed, florals, etc.

i also sort the collection by what is used for quilting, handbags, home dec, etc.

Let's see I have a holiday section... 1st pic
Kid and Baby wraps if need be to main wall 2nd Pic
Then there is Notions
Then Building Materials...(I love this one pattern so darn much that I dedicated a fabric section to it... Happy Scrappy Houses)
Then Puppy Kitty
then the colors each on their own.
white bright prints
black bright prints
bright prints
current projects
scraps are all sorted by colors on the floor(big bushels are hiding under the longarm to be sorted)
strange ones are on top

As for fabric in the same line....nah..I do not keep them together., they get sorted into their color group.

This is just how I do it... :)

Crafty, thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm going to save these.
Today I was in my sewing room going crazy. So discouraging.
One of my problems is I have a double closet with lots of shelves but they're too deep.
Maybe I can get DH to do something with them.
To the poster who did pics, thank you! They look great.

I just put it in zip lock bags & put it up on the shelf. I'm a good organizer but I lost my room & I'm not getting it back for awhile. So I'm in the "make due" mode for who knows how long. But I don't have any where near the amt in the above pictures! I'd give my hubby a heart attack if I had that much!
I have to say I'm jealous of that wonderful display!!
