Last weekend, I thread-basted a quilt on a friend's Hinterberg Hand frame and fell in love with it.

I'm doing some shopping for a similar system and read most of the posts arleady on both the Hinterberg and the Grace Hand quilting frames . . . .

I'm left with some questions:

1. All of the photos I've seen show a very small quilt on the Grace - I wonder how it handles when there's a king size on it?

2. Has anyone used both? How do the loading of the layers compare?
Does the 4-pole frame of the Grace offer more stability and tension than the 3-pole Hinterberg?

3. The grace looks very collapsable. Does it also feel sturdy?

4. Anyone do any modifications to the design they'd like to share?

Any other thoughts?

I have the Grace EZ three pole frame and I bought it just for basting my quilts. I have the king size poles on it and it's sturdy and I can baste small or large quilts on it. I like it because it folds up and will stand flat against the wall. Be sure you have space. Mine is over 8 ft long. The EZ4 is very nice and the Hingerberg is nice. I found the EZ3 on sale so that's what I got.

I have both a Grace and a Hintenberg floorframe. Both of mine are hoops. One is a rounded square, the Grace and the other, Hintenberg is round. I have done a lot of queen size quilts and at least one king size on one of the other of them. The quilt needs to be basted before you put it on the hoop. I just unhoop and move the quilt as necessary as I finish a section. As I have back and neck problems I find that working on a big frame allows me to overreach and hurt myself. The hoops also take up a lot less room. I can send pictures if you still don't understand.

I don't hand quilt in the frame, I only use it to baste the quilt for machine quilting.

I have a Hinterburg, have used it for 10 years. It comes with different size poles. I keep it large. It takes about 20 minutes for me to put a quilt in. I can roll it by myself easily. I do all my handquilting on it, and have quilted many queen and king quilts. This is a large floor frame.

I bought the Grace Frame on Saturday!
I expect to get it tomorrow!

It'll be a few weeks to get it stained and assembled!!
I'm so excited!

Hi! I haven't posted in a while.

My DH got me a Grace Z44 for Christmas. I just recently got the light, cloth leaders, and bungee clamps. It looks really easy to quilt with. A lot easier than the really old one that I had found at an auction for $5. I still have it but I think I will like the Grace a LOT better!

Did you stain yours? Or put some kind of wood sealer on it?

Was it difficult to assemble? I read thru the directions and am going to hope that someone helps me do it!
