I launder all of my finished quilts, consider it the final step after binding. I put it in the washer on a normal cycle, warm water, normal detergent, an extra rinse if its large input it on extra large load size, I want lots of water. If I used batiks I put in synthropol or a color catcher just in case ( even if everything is prewashed)
then I toss it in the dryer, again normal settings, tumble dry. I figure who ever gets the quilt is going to treat it that way so I better make sure it's going to do ok. I've found a couple loose seams after laundering which I fix before the quilt goes anywhere & once found an appliqué that wasn't completely stitched- fixed that. I would rather find those things myself before gifting or selling the quilt. Plus, I love removing them from the dryer all soft, cozy & huggable.

I like lots of water in my top loading washer with Tide detergent on a 10 minute wash cycle. I throw in 2 colour catchers in case of bleeds. After washing, I check to make sure there are not any bleeds and then throw it in the dryer. I dry until damp and then block it out to fully dry.

I wash on gentle cycle with Orvis soap (buy on line at JoAnn's), rinse a second time and spin. I prefer drying outside to minimize crinkling, but I've also dried in the dryer, and it doesn't really seem to make that much difference.

Wash on regular cycle with my homemade soap and in the dryer. If it's nice out, on the line.

I wash on delicate cycle with cold water and always use 1 or 2 color catchers (more if really dark color). Dry on low and usually take out right before dry and try to hang to let completely dry. Have not had any problems

I have a silly question...can you get color catchers at your local grocery store? I have not yet purchased any but think I ought to from now on.

I always wash - and in the same manner the owner might do. My current project for my sister has wool batting - she will wash it correctly and not put it in the dryer.
